We work hard to provide outstanding medical care through comprehensive diagnostic workup, timely appointments, and diligent follow-up.
DEDUCTIBLEs (money that you need to pay out of pocket before insurance pays us for your care) continue to increase steadily for most patient, even on employer-sponsored plans. The typical amount is $1,000 - $2,000, but deductibles as high as $5,000 are no longer unusual. Until the deductible is met, the insurance will not reimburse us for the care provided and the cost is the patient's responsibility. In order to increase transparency and prevent unexpected expenses for our patients, it is our office policy to collect $150 DEPOSIT from all new patients BEFORE THE FIRST VISIT. Also, we collect $100 DEPOSIT at the time of follow-up visit in all patients who have not met their annual deductible. The exception to this rule are Medicare patients and the patients for whom we can obtain verification from the insurance that they do not have a deductible or it has been met already. Preventive care (annual physical) may also be exempt. The DEPOSIT will be reconciled as soon as we receive EOB (explanation of benefits) from the insurance. Once payment is received from the insurance, a refund (less any copayments) is mailed to the patient. If deductible has not been met, we will bill the patient for the difference between allowable charges and the deposit. This is likely to be a small amount as we have set the deposit to approximate the average insurance payment for a each type of a visit. DEPOSIT is also required for certain services (notably some VACCINATIONS) for which insurance coverage varies significantly, unless we can verify in advance that the service is covered.
