SHARP COMMUNITY MEDICAL GROUP (SCMG) PANEL IS OPEN!
To register for Dr. Daub's computerized system, select "Login" on the homepage, then "Register here". Once you have completed the initial registration, please select "My Health Record". You may then enter in your pertinent medical history, including current medications and local pharmacy information; this may require up to 15-20 minutes. Those needing assistance with computer tasks may ask a family member, or our office staff will be happy to help as well. Once these steps are completed, you may choose to email our office or request presription refills. You may also schedule appointments online; however, if you are unable to find a desired appointment slot, select the "Request Appointment" option or call our office at 619-569-1790.
UPDATE ON HOW WE ARE UPLOADING YOUR LAB/TEST RESULTS
On March 1st, 2024, Sharp Hospitals converted to a new electronic health record system called EPIC. Many outpatient physician offices also elected to change to this system at this same time, but we decided to wait and observe this transition and perhaps join in the next 6-18 months. Unfortunately, this changeover did NOT anticipate the needs of physician offices outside of the EPIC system, and Sharp (including the affiliated Sharp Lab and X-ray Medical Group) has not been receptive nor helpful in solving our new issue(s) with making lab and other test results easily available for you to review.
Your lab results will be uploaded into your DaubMD chart, usually within 3-5 business days. We are still working on how best to upload other test results (such as ultrasound or CT scan studies).
You may already have a separate Sharp MyChart account. If so, you may log-in to that account and find your labs and many of your other test results if these were done at a Sharp facility. If you are not a current MyChart user, please sign up at https://app.sharp.com/sharpapp/Authentication/Login?
WE ARE STILL DOING BRIEF PHONE CALLS TO RELAY LAB RESULTS
You may schedule a brief phone call to discuss lab results, with Dr. Daub (Wednesday afternoons) or Audrey Sun, PA-C (Tuesday mornings). Please remember this is to only discuss results, and not to address any new medical issues/complaints.
PLEASE MAKE SURE WE HAVE YOUR CORRECT EMAIL
We often send communications about lab/test results via email. If you are not computer savvy, you may ask for a printed copy or schedule an in-office visit to discuss these in person.
UPDATED CHARGES FOR MISSED APPOINTMENTS
If you do not cancel an appointment at least 24 hours in advance, you will be charged $50 for a routine appointment, and $100 for a complete physical exam appointment. We strive every day to accommodate urgent patient issues. Missing an appointment without proper notification not only results in lost revenue for the office, but (more importantly) significantly affects our care for other patients.
Treat yourself to a RELAXING massage!
Hai Jing Zhang-Lou has joined DaubMD, Inc.
Choose a 30, 50 or 80 minute massage with Hai Jing, a Certified Massage Therapist. You can choose either a 1) Swedish massage, which uses long, soothing strokes to increase cirulcation and soothe tired muscles, or 2) a deep tissue massage, which relieves chronic muscle tension and reduces pain by penetrating deeper layers of muscle while focusing especially on problematic areas. Hai Jing "Jenny" is available 10 AM -1PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and sometimes outside of these times if scheduled in advance. To schedule, please call Jenny directly at 619-985-2610.
FLU SEASON
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends an annual flu vaccine for ALL PERSONS 6 months of age and older, unless a contraindication excists (such as previous severe allergic reaction). This usually becomes available in late August or September each year. Most local pharmacies offer this vaccine, and no prescription or order is necessary. Sharp Community Medical Group members are encouraged to use a Von's Pharmacy. If you think you may be due for other vaccines, such as Shingles or Pneumonia, please schedule an appointment with us to discuss the indications and frequency for these other vaccines.
COVID19 VACCINE NEWS
Dr. Daub recommends, with rare exceptions including cases of severe allergy history, that all patients 6 months of age and older obtain the COVID-19 vaccination. Starting this Fall of 2024, an updated COVID-19 vaccine is available--this will offer significant protection against the most common, current strains of the virus. Please check with your local pharmacy when this vaccine will be available, and how to schedule a vaccination appointment (if necessary).
MOST PATIENT VISITS ARE IN-OFFICE (PHONE VISITS MAY BE OFFERED IN RARE CIRCUMSTANCES)
We are now fully-staffed and present in the office. We no longer require the use of a face mask. However, patients with respiratory symptoms who have notified us in advance of these symptoms are required to use a face mask/covering while in our office.
DO YOU HAVE COLD/FLU SYMPTOMS, INCLUDING CORONAVIRUS COVID-19?
If you have a fever and/or symptoms of an acute respiratory illness (e.g., cough, shortness of breath), please do a rapid test for COVID-19 and then call our office to determine the next best step for your further evaluation. DO NOT present at our office without our advance notification, even if you have an already-scheduled appointment. Patients testing negative for COVID-19 and needing to be seen for their symptoms can be scheduled for an in-office visit. Those testing positive for COVID-19 are treated on an individual basis. For example, healthy patients with mild symptoms may simply be advised to treat their symptoms and convalesce at home without risking further community spread. Other patients may require a phone visit/evaluation and stronger consideration for prescription treatment (or referral to an ER for possible hospitalization), especially if they have more severe symptoms, or a history of chronic medical problems associated with a higher risk for poorer outcomes (those older than 60 years of age, or those with diabetes, chronic heart/lung/kidney diseases, or on immunosupressant medications). To protect our staff and patients, we do not knowingly allow patients with COVID-19 in our office until they are no longer contagious by our standard.
For information and education about the COVID-19 crisis in San Diego, the United States and the World, plese refer to the following websites: https://www.sandiegocounty.gov/hhsa (San Diego Health and Human Services Agency) and http://www.cdc.gov (Centers for Disease Control). DOCUMENT YOUR COVID AND OTHER VACCINATIONS
Log-in to your chart and select "Medical History", then "+Add New Immunization". You may then add the vaccinations you have received.
DUE FOR YOUR YEARLY DIABETIC EYE EXAM?
For Sharp Community Medical Group (SCMG) patients, your diabetic exam can be scheduled with one of the plan's contracted Ophthalmologists, and no referral is needed. The participating physicians in the Grossmont Region include Dr. Lee Katzman (7877 Parkway Drive, Suite 100 in La Mesa, Phone 610-460-3711) and Dr. Christopher Hsu (5565 Grossmont Center Drive, Building 3, Suite 551 Phone 619-465-2020). If you have another type of insurance, such as Medicare, Tricare or PPO, most likely you can also be seen by one of these Ophthalomologists. or possibly a different office of your choosing; feel free to check with our office whether a referral is necessary.
