As you may are probably aware there is significant problem with prescription drug abuse today, particularly in our area. At Patient First, INC we understand that there are both acute and chronic conditions that require the use of narcotic or scheduled meds. However, each administration will be reviewed on a case by case basis. In cases of long term need of a narcotic we may request you visit a pain management specialist for those needs, however, we will still be happy to treat your other conditions or serve in other needs.
Patient First, INC has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to narcotic abuse or doctor shopping. The Tennessee Controlled Substance Database will be checked prior to any controlled substance being prescribed. Also any patient on a controlled medicine will be subject to both random drug counts and random drug screening if at any time we feel that it is necessary. Failure to violate any narcotic policy, fail a drug screen, having miscounts on drug counts or not coming in for a drug count, or providing false information to any member of the Patient First team in regards to controlled substances is ground for immediate dismissal from the practice.
These policies have not been enacted to make any patient feel like they are not in legitimate pain, a criminal, or that there needs are not a concern of ours. The policies have been enacted strictly because we care about the community we serve and the problems it faces, and we try to be good stewards of these medications.
