You have just undergone a procedure to remove all or a portion of your toenail and the root. A chemical was used to burn and destroy the root permanently. This burn will cause the corner of your toe to become slightly red and swollen. Drainage of fluid reddish in color is normal.
1. The same evening of the procedure remove the bandage completely.
2. Begin soaking your toe(s) in ONE CAPFUL of BETADINE per ONE QUART of tap water for at least 5 minutes at least twice a day.
3. After soaking, remove any drainage that accumulated in the nail groove with a clean, dry Q-tip until complete cleaned.
4. Cover area with a Band-Aid if you are going outside barefooted.
5. Watch for the following signs or symptoms and call the office if any appear:
