HMO Referrals

Many managed care plans require that patients obtain referrals from their primary care physician prior to their appointment with a consulting specialist. It is the patient's responsibility to obtain a valid referral prior to seeing the specialist. If a valid referral is not obtained, you will be responsible for all charges. Authorization is usually required by managed care plans prior to surgical procedures. We require at least 72 hour notice to obtain referrals, unless they are an emergency.
